In an effort to differentiate itself from Facebook, Snapchat decided to expand its ad offerings lineup with three new products that take advantage of its already popular lenses and geofilters. The company is debuting a handful of new products, including World Lenses, Audience Lenses, and Smart Geofilters. This represents the largest update to its Sponsored Creative Tools since the first branded Lens debuted in October 2015!

Twitter Blooming Up!
Twitter is pushing deeper into live video and news with the launch of a round-the-clock streaming service in partnership with Bloomberg. The news stream is likely to launch in the fall, as reported by the Wall Street Journal. Twitter has been struggling to grow its user base lately, and this might be the partnership it needs!

Facebook Video Fake-Out!
Facebook is banning misleading usage of its Live video format. The social media giant says it is adding a section to its Live API Facebook Platform Policy that reads “Don’t use the API to publish only images (ex: don’t publish static, animated or looping images), or to live-stream polls associated with unmoving or ambient broadcasts.” Videos that violate the policy will have reduced visibility on Facebook, and publishers that repeatedly break the rule may have their access to Facebook Live restricted.

It’s obvious that Instagram is stronger in terms of retaining its users, but Snapchat is not going to let it go without a fight! Its recent update has given us a new look at how we can utilise geofilters and lenses in creative ways. With this, we may be able to create more interesting content in the near future!
