MESSENGER’S SPONSORED MESSAGES AVAILABLE TO DEVS – WEEKLY SOCIAL WRAP-UP
Weekly Social Wrap-Up is our update on the most tender, juiciest, leanest cut of news happening in the social media world. Today, we look at new Instagram features, Facebook unified inboxes, and the future in Mixed Reality.
Instagram launches disappearing Live video and messages
Instagram is combining the best of Snapchat and Periscope to help you get comfortable on camera. Rather than overlapping Facebook Live and Messenger, Instagram is putting an ephemeral spin on video streaming and private messaging instead. Interesting!
Facebook launches a unified inbox for businesses on Facebook, Messenger and Instagram
Facebook is unveiling a new feature that should make it easier for businesses to stay on top of conversations across Facebook, Messenger and Instagram. Instead of opening separate apps, conversations will now be centralised to keep things simpler for businesses. This will make tracking much easier for us too!
Is the future of Virtual Reality mixed?
Experts are starting to believe that mixed reality should be the focus for 2017, as it has the potential to offer businesses a storytelling experience without completely disengaging from its customer. Creating a unique user-experience is important, and mixed reality allows brands to get information about what the user is trying to click during the experience, so they can update information for a better storytelling. How exciting!
With Instagram introducing the disappearing Live videos, it puts Snapchat on the line as they both now offer similar features, with the former having more to offer. Although these features are familiar, the idea of giving users the ability to control their content would probably work in Instagram’s favour. However, it would be interesting to see how brands would make use of the new features, especially in advertising. Something for us to look forward to!
