Today in #DailyRoar, we look at some new features coming from Google’s search and YouTube, some (impressive) demographic statistics on Snapchat and Facebook’s future in video content.

Google introduces new features to make travel planning and mobile shopping easier
As users are becoming more ready to make purchases and bookings online, Google has introduced several new features on mobile to help marketers and brands prepare for the upcoming holiday season. The new features will help filter hotel searches, display tips and deals. Flight Price Tracking is also added as a new feature. We’ll also see Showcase Shopping ads as well as its premium version coming to make online shopping easier. Finally, a new interactive Companion banner, as well as Product picker will be available on YouTube for those using the platform to make purchase decisions.

Half of the 16-24s in US and UK are on Snapchat
With Belgium leading at 58%, approximately 50% of US and UK people in the 16-24 age group are using Snapchat. That’s some impressive reach in these Western markets amongst the younger demographics. If your brand is not on Snapchat yet, now’s a good time to start considering it. As history and trends dictate, we can expect more users in Asia and particularly SEA region to adopt them really soon.

Facebook delves deeper into the video content scene
GlobalWebIndex’s data shows that over half of Facebookers watch videos on the platform, and it’s only gonna get better from here. As Nicola Mendelsohn, VP for Facebook in EMEA said last month that in five years, Facebook “will definitely be mobile and probably all be video”. With 28% of Facebookers watching brand videos online at least once a month, the opportunity for brands and advertisers is evident. We may expect to see the social media giant be a “video first” platform before long.
